SGA Honors Dr. Beck Weathers with Salvation Army Donation

As part of the BCOM student’s pulmonary curriculum, the Department of Physiology and Pathology held a student movie night during which the film Everest was screened. The movie is an adaption of Dr. Beck Weathers’ memoir Left for Dead: My Journey Home from Everest.

As a special treat, Dr. Weathers called in to BCOM personally and fielded questions from students about what it’s really like trying to breathe and survive at an altitude of almost 30,000 feet above sea level.

The Student Government Association sold refreshments at the event raising $260 which they donated in Dr. Weathers’ name to a charity of his choosing. He selected the Salvation Army and BCOM student Evan Teske officially presented the check to the organization.

All the members of the inaugural class also signed a photo from the White Coat Ceremony, which was sent to Dr. Weathers as a special thank you.
