Mark Benson, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences, has been named the 2022 George W. Northrup Educator of the Year. The National Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) Foundation grants the annual award. It honors someone in the osteopathic medical education who mentors medical students and goes above and beyond the call of duty to improve the osteopathic educational experience. Dr. Benson joined Burrell in September. He has a bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Puget Sound and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
