Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine to Host 6th Annual Medical Student Research Day

Las Cruces, NM – The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine is pleased to announce our 6th Annual Medical Student Research Day (MRSD), scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 3501 Arrowhead Dr., Las Cruces, NM. This event showcases the remarkable achievements and contributions of 21 medical student research teams, fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation within the medical community.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Student Research Presentations: Medical students will present their research findings and attendees can gain insight into the following areas: 

  1. Stress, Autonomic Nervous System, and Steroids,
  2. Public Health, Infectious Disease/COVID,
  3. Pathology and Clinical Medicine,
  4. Anatomy and Medical Education.

Poster Sessions: The event will feature interactive poster sessions, allowing attendees to engage directly with students, learn about their research methodologies, and ask questions about their findings.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Analia S. Loria‐Kinsey, PhD, is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky’s College of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences. She studies cardiovascular disease and strives to raise awareness about preventative measures and treatments.

Networking Opportunities: The event offers networking opportunities for attendees to connect with students, faculty, and professionals in the medical and research sectors, fostering collaborations and knowledge exchange.

Media Coverage:

Members of the media are invited to attend the event and cover the research presentations and keynote address. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the innovative research projects conducted by the next generation of medical professionals.

Event Schedule:

8:30 – 9:00 AM: Opening Ceremony

9:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Student Research Presentations (Multiple Sessions)

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Lunch Break and Poster Sessions

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Keynote Address/Lecture

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Award Finalist Presentations
