The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the graduation of its fifth class of student doctors. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished keynote speaker Dr. Robert Cain, President & Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). With 147 student doctors walking the stage, this year’s graduating class stands as the largest among regional medical schools this year, underscoring Burrell College’s commitment to producing skilled healthcare professionals to meet the needs of communities.
Addressing the graduating class, Dr. Cain emphasized the pivotal role these newly minted doctors will play in shaping the future of healthcare. “As you embark on this journey of healing and service, remember the profound impact you can have on the lives of individuals and communities,” he said. “Your dedication to the osteopathic principles of treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, will be your guiding light in your practice.”
Dr. Cain also emphasized the importance of adaptability and resilience in the ever-changing landscape of healthcare. “As you step into the dynamic world of medicine, remember that challenges will inevitably arise,” he advised. “It is your ability to adapt, innovate, and persevere in the face of adversity that will define your success as healthcare professionals.”
This graduation also comes on the heels of BCOM receiving the highest accreditation from American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA); which is Ten Years with Exceptional Outcome and affirming BCOM’s commitment and dedication in warranting the success of our student doctors.
“This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of our students, faculty, staff, board of trustees and all of our affiliated hospitals, clinics and physicians.” We were founded upon a strong mission, and it is our mission that guides and inspires us to continuously pursue excellence in all that we do,” said John L. Hummer, Burrell President & Co-Founder.
Burrell was founded in 2013, welcoming its inaugural class in 2016 in Las Cruces, NM. With this current graduating class BCOM will have 711 students who have graduated and successfully entered various fields of medicine. This July BCOM will welcome students to its new second campus located in Melbourne, FL.
