Burrell College Celebrates Military Match
Students Ready For New Medical Journey
Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine congratulates all its U.S. Military-affiliated students on their outstanding achievements in their recent residency matches. These student doctors have demonstrated remarkable dedication, managing the demanding challenges of medical school while fulfilling their military duties.
“Their success is a testament to their hard work, resilience, and commitment to both their medical careers and their military service,” said John Hummer, President of Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. “We are incredibly proud of our military-affiliated students, and their hard work and dedication are truly inspiring, and their success in the match reflects the strength of both their medical training and their service to our nation,” he added.
Student Doctor Alberto Velasco, a United States Naval officer and medical student at Burrell College, has successfully matched into psychiatry and is eagerly anticipating the next chapter of his journey.
“Since 2017, after getting out of the Marine Corps, I’ve had only one goal in mind: to become a psychiatrist. I was unaware of the exact path, but I’m proud to have figured it out with the support of my professors, peers, and fellow service members,” said Velasco. “The journey hasn’t been easy, balancing medical school with military responsibilities, but I’m excited to take the next step in my medical career and continue serving both in the Navy and in the healthcare field.”
As these students prepare to embark on the next phase of their medical careers, Burrell College continues to support and celebrate their achievements, recognizing the unique and valuable contributions they make to both the medical field and to the military. Congratulations to all who matched and thank you for your service!
