Former NASA astronaut Winston Elliott “Win” Scott joined Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Board of Trustees retreat, where he shared his experiences as a pilot, engineer, and astronaut. He spoke about leadership, perseverance, and pushing the limits of human achievement, inspiring college leaders with his journey through space and beyond.
“Exploration—whether in space or in medicine—requires dedication, adaptability, and teamwork,” Scott said. “I enjoyed speaking with the Burrell College Board of Trustees and seeing their commitment to shaping the next generation of physicians.”
Burrell College President John Hummer emphasized the significance of Scott’s visit. “Hearing from someone who has reached for the stars was both inspiring and thought-provoking. His insights on leadership and perseverance align with our mission to train future physicians who will make a lasting impact in healthcare.”
Denise Gonzales, M.D., chair of the Board of Trustees, highlighted the value of Scott’s message. “Captain Scott reminded us that great achievements require vision and determination—qualities we strive to instill in our students every day.”
