Florida Tech Pre-Med Club Visits Burrell College for Workshop and Tour

The Florida Tech Pre-Med Club toured Burrell on Wednesday and had an enriching experience with Burrell’s faculty and staff in an engaging workshop.

Following a tour conducted by Burrell faculty and staff, students from the Florida Tech Pre-Med Club were shown osteopathic manipulative medical techniques.

Several Florida Tech students participated in the workshop, where they worked on osteopathic manipulative medicine techniques and became familiar with Burrell’s faculty and staff. The session was led by Dr. Doris Newman, DO, FAAO, campus dean of Burrell’s Florida campus and Professor of Preclinical Medicine, alongside Dr. Brett Picciotti, DO, Associate Professor.

“Burrell welcomed the Florida Tech Pre-Med Club participants to the Melbourne Campus for a discussion and demonstration of Osteopathic Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulation,” said Dr. Newman. “The undergraduate and graduate student participants from Florida Tech were engaged and interested in learning about some differences between allopathic and osteopathic medical training as well participating in hands on OM skills.”

The Florida Tech Pre-Med Club plans to organize more events such as these to strengthen the connection between Burrell and Florida Tech.

As the healthcare landscape evolves, initiatives like these play a vital role in supporting the next generation of medical practitioners, ensuring they are well-equipped for the future ahead.
