The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine announces Stephanie Schilling as its new Director of Philanthropy. In this role, Schilling will lead the College’s advancement and fundraising, focusing on expanding scholarship opportunities, philanthropic partnerships, and expanding Burrell’s mission to improve healthcare in underserved communities.
These initiatives are under the Coalition of Osteopathic Excellence (COE), a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to improve healthcare by providing financial support for medical education and health-related initiatives benefiting students attending Burrell College.
“Stephanie’s proven success in philanthropy and her dedication to community transformation make her a tremendous asset to Burrell,” said John Hummer, President of the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. “Her vision and experience will strengthen our foundation’s capacity to expand scholarship opportunities and support the next generation of healthcare leaders.”
“The Coalition for Osteopathic Excellence is proud to welcome Stephanie to the team,” said Dr. William Baker, DO, Chairman of the COE Board. “Her ability to collaborate with community and business leaders will be important in generating the resources needed to support our student physicians. We are confident that her leadership will strengthen the network that benefits our entire osteopathic community.”
Schilling brings extensive experience in nonprofit development, relationship management, and strategic fundraising. Throughout her career, she has cultivated donor engagement, secured major gifts, and fostered cross-sector collaborations to support education, healthcare, and community advancement.
“I am honored to join Burrell College and contribute to a mission aligning so closely with my passion for education and community impact,” said Schilling. “Philanthropy has the power to transform access to medical education and healthcare in underserved regions, and I’m excited to help advance that vision through meaningful partnerships and support.”
Most recently, she served as a Fundraising Consultant for the Woodlands Partnership of Massachusetts, where she guided the Board in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the development of a comprehensive three-year fundraising plan to ensure long-term sustainability. Her previous leadership roles include serving as Vice President of Resource Development at the United Way of El Paso County, Executive Director of the City of Socorro Community Initiative, and Vice President of Philanthropy for Hospice of El Paso.
