How BCOM is Making Las Cruces a Safer Place to Live

Every student in the inaugural class is now certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR for Healthcare Professionals. Region II EMS conducted their site review during the instructional period and BCOM passed with only praising comments. BCOM is now officially a Training Site under Region II for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Studies show that the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital are extremely low, but people are more likely to survive if a bystander begins CPR. Seattle has the highest survival rate in the world thanks in large part to the high rates of CPR training for local residents. With over 162 new certifications circulating in our local population, BCOM is well on the way to improving pre-hospital mortality rates in Las Cruces.
