When we first ventured to create this scholarship, we had these questions: How can we give back to those that dedicated their lives to our freedom and our liberties and how can we help support those that willingly ran into harm’s way to ensure we sleep safely at night?
Those questions defined our mission—to combine the dedication to country and community along with a passion for providing quality health care with state-of-the-art resources to benefit the southwest.
We are grateful to the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, along with the Southwest Foundation for Osteopathic Education and Research, for their commitment and for working to give students a quality of education that enhances their knowledge of medicine, but also educates students about the importance of community service.
To not only the scholarship recipients, to those that applied, and to future applicants, we have but two words: Thank you.
Thank you for your service, thank you for your commitment to a better future and thank you for choosing our community as a place to learn and grow.
These scholarships are designed to provide hope and opportunity to students wishing to carry on a legacy of service to their country and community. We, the scholarship committee seek to honor those brave men and women who defended our freedom and believe that financial barriers should not be an obstacle to their success.
