Scott Wallace Awarded Friends of Military Veterans Scholarship

Scott Wallace, First Lieutenant, Utah Army National Guard

First Lieutenant Scott Earl Wallace is a first-year medical student at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. He holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in biology, chemistry and military science from Southern Utah University. He serves in the Utah Army National Guard as a field medical assistant to the battalion commander, advising in medical readiness for over 400 soldiers. He maintains certification as an EMT-Basic and continuing combat medical training as a 68W-20 Health Care Specialist.

In 2011, Scott deployed with the 2/222 Field Artillery Battalion to Baghdad, Iraq as a combat medic. During that time, he served as a foot-patrolman and clinical specialist. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbon for his dedication and service to his fellow soldiers.

In his free time, Scott enjoys volunteering with his church, teaching four- to 11-year-old children character and moral principles and staying involved with community service. He is married to Josephine Wallace and has one child, Darren Wallace. Together, they enjoy all sorts of outdoor recreation, exercise, and pickleball.
