Celebrating unity, diversity, and the power of community, the Annual Black Health Empowerment Alliance Gala highlights the importance of having physicians of diversity in our communities. Ogechika Alozie, MD, MPH, FACP, FIDSA, AAHIVS, and Chief Executive Office of Infectious Disease at Sunset West Health, emphasizes the importance of the event and its impact on future physicians. “Tonight has specifically been about unity and diversity, reminding these students that their journeys and their differences actually create a community,” says Doctor Alozie.
Second year student doctor Mazella Sloan also weighs in on the importance of the Black Health Empowerment Alliance Gala for Burrell students. “The event is for students at Burrell to engage with physicians of color, to learn more about how their experience impacts their patients and how their minority status impacts their patients.”
We want to give a special and heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone who made our 3rd Annual Black Health Empowerment Alliance Gala one to remember.
