Third-year student doctor Charlotte Lenz was selected as the 2025 Student Doctor of the Year at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and will represent the college as its nominee for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) COSGP National Student Doctor of the Year Award 2025.
“I believe this represents a continued tenacity to create meaningful change within the Burrell community and beyond,” said Ms. Lenz. “For me, this is my ongoing commitment to creating pathways for women pursuing surgical specialties, advancing research in orthopedic trauma, and establishing formalized physician-student mentorship opportunities on a national scale.”
As a second -year student, Ms. Lenz served as chapter president of the Student Section of the American Academy of Sports Medicine and treasurer of the Student American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. She also founded the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society chapter at Burrell College, advancing the role of women in orthopedics.
Ms. Lenz also extends her leadership to the national level as well. She also contributed to the National Conference Committee for the Student American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
“My work at the national level is about connecting people, collaborating on ideas and events, and creating positive changes,” said Ms. Lenz. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of initiatives that help shape the future of our field and bring about lasting impacts.”
Beyond her formal roles, Ms. Lenz is passionate about mentoring her peers. She is a teaching assistant in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) labs and serves as a “Big” to incoming first year students in Burrell’s Big/Little program.
