Friends of Military Veterans Annual Scholarship Fund

Purpose

The Friends of Military Veterans Annual Scholarship Fund was created to support veterans and dependents of veterans seeking to pursue medical education at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Criteria

Name of Scholarship Friends of Military Veterans Annual Scholarship Fund
Total Award per Academic Year Limit No limit. At least one award will be made each semester.
Award per Student per Academic Year  TBA-Based on available funding year-to-year
Eligibility Criteria Highest Priority Veterans of the United States Armed Forces who served in a Theater of Combat Operations as demonstrated by military service documentation that reflects service in a combat theater, or receipt of combat service medals, and/or receipt of imminent danger or hostile fire pay or tax benefits
Eligibility Criteria Next Highest Priority Veterans of the United States Armed Forces who are honorably separated or retired from those forces
Eligibility Criteria Lowest Priority An individual who is, or was, a dependent of a Veteran as defined under DoD 6010.8-R
Eligibility Criteria Preferred Veterans and/or a dependent of a Veteran who lists their residence as New Mexico, west Texas, or southeastern Arizona
Eligibility Criteria Preferred Veterans and/or a dependent of a Veteran whose academic accomplishments demonstrate a high potential for successfully completing their desired field of study.
Additional Award Considerations Financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, personal integrity, and character
Award Uses Tuition, books, room and board, and related educational expenses
