The COVID-19 Vaccine: What You Need to Know

On Friday, Dec. 11, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first emergency use vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus. The emergency use authorization (EUA) allows individuals who are 16 years and older to be vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

In this video, Associate Professor Michael Woods, PhD, answers questions about the safety, side effects and efficacy of the newly released vaccine. Dr. Woods specializes in infectious diseases and is a recipient of the CDC’s Award of Excellence for Global Health Achievement for his work on the Ugandan plague and outbreak response.
