Burrell College Opens Beck’s at the Bear Den

One of the many beverages available to enjoy at Beck’s at the Bear Den is the Matcha Latte

This month, Burrell College re-opened the Bear Den lounge with an exciting update, its own branch of Beck’s Coffee. Beck’s at the Bear Den is a collaborative project between the college and Beck’s Roasting House and Creamery. Students, faculty, and staff can expect to enjoy freshly brewed coffee and other beverages, artisanal ice cream, fresh-baked pastries, and other snack items, including vegan options. OMS-II student Julia Wong says, “I am very excited about having a coffee shop on campus. I’m looking forward to trying the pour-overs!”

Beck’s Coffee was founded locally in 2010 and has since been a staple feature at the weekly Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces. In 2013, Beck’s came under the ownership of Tyrell Thacker and Arianna Parsons. Since acquiring Beck’s, Tyrell and Arianna have grown and expanded the business into a Roasting House and Creamery, located in the historic Mesquite District, where guests can enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee or some delicious house-made, artisanal ice cream.

Students, staff, and faculty are returning back to campus as the pandemic eases, and Beck’s at the Bear Den is waiting to receive them. “It’s nice to be able to study on campus again and have a coffee shop to go to. We came back to something awesome,” says Alondra Sierra, OMS-II. Beck’s at the Bear Den will feature a special blend of coffee signature to our campus called the Burrell Blend, available to order as a beverage as well as in bulk grounds. Beck’s at the Bear Den’s barista, Emma Rogers, says students can expect to find an environment that is welcoming, friendly, and community based, that provides the “best coffee in Las Cruces!”

Beck’s at the Bear Den is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. To learn more about Beck’s at the Bear Den, you can check out this video below featuring the owners, Tyrell Thacker and Arianna Parsons.
