Leave of Absence for Research and Creative Scholarship

Purpose

Leaves of Absence for Research and Creative Scholarship is a temporary interruption in a student’s course of study in the osteopathic medicine program for a period of time greater than fifteen (15) consecutive school days during the regular academic year for the purpose of engaging in organized research and/or creative scholarship at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine or another institution.

General Provisions

A student requesting a Leave of Absence for Research and Creative Scholarship must be in good academic standing as defined in the Academic Standing and Academic Risk Policy. A student returning from a Leave of Absence for Research and Creative Scholarship in good academic standing will be eligible for re-instatement as a full-time student once they have completed the reinstatement process as detailed in the Student Handbook.
