HEERF – Fourth Quarterly report – December 1, 2022 FINAL
The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine acknowledges that it has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and the assurance that the College has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to
Students.
The College received two allocations of HEERF Grant funding. The first allocation was in the amount of $167,743, approved April 16, 2021. The second allocation was $115,515, August 18, 2021. In total, the College received $283,358 in emergency relief funds. A student that applies and submits a signed student certification form is eligible for $500 dollars. Fund requests are based on a student’s financial need for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child-care, for the time of the emergency. All students enrolled full-time are eligible for funding. Funding is limited and is awarded to students on a firstcome-first-serve basis until the funding is exhausted, and in consideration of quarterly maximums. As of August 1, 2022, $232,000 has been disbursed to 465 students of 594 full-time students. Students who were eligible for the HEERF II Grant funding received a transfer of funds directly to them through an electronic funds transfer based on a student’s request for a direct deposit, or a physical check made and given to the student.
Only enrolled students that apply through the institutional application portal are considered for the HEERF II funding. The application portal is embedded into an informational webpage that contains the HEERF Student Certification electronic form, regulatory information, and additional guidance pertaining to emergency expenses related to COVID-19. Enrolled students can request funding for food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, childcare, or other expenses related to the COVID-19 virus.

The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine has received federal funding from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) for Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds II (HEERF II) The College has received two allocations with the first in the amount of $167,743 and the second in the amount of $115, 515. In total, the College has received $283, 358 in emergency relief funds. Each student that applies is eligible for $500 dollars. Fund requests must be based on a student’s financial need for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child-care, for the time of the emergency. All enrolled students are eligible for funding (635 students). Funding is LIMITED and will be awarded to students on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE basis until the funding is exhausted. As of 9/30/2021, $198,500 has been distributed to 397 students.
Only enrolled students that apply through the application portal will considered for the HEERF II, $500, supplemental funding. The portal contains a HEERF Student Certification Form requesting information pertaining to emergency expenses related to the COVID-19 expenses. Enrolled students can request funding for food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, childcare, or other expenses as they related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon notification from the Office of Financial Aid that an enrolled student has been approved for the award, funds will be disbursed within fourteen (14) days to the enrolled student by electronic transfer of funds to the student’s account or by physical check by the Office of the Bursar.
